I am so thankful to be able to do what I love and make amazing memories for my clients in the process. While all my sessions are special, every once in awhile, I get the chance to learn a little more about a family and I am simply blown away by the love and strength of the human race. Jennifer and Dane are a special duo and I am confident their story will touch you as much as it did me.

In her initial email to me, this is how Jennifer described her son and also gave me a little background on their story: “My son, Dane, is all boy! I named him ‘Dane’ because my husband and I were married in Denmark. Little does he know the joy his presence has brought to so many. He is my mooring in life and a miracle baby. When I look at Dane, his smile and demeanor embodies pure joy, hope and life, a daily reminder to live life to its fullest! Dane and I are a team and we are definitely survivors. Dane’s dad, my husband and soulmate, died 12 hours before Dane was born of a massive and completely unexpected heart attack. It’s been a challenging six year journey, but Dane and I are moving forward and have a shot at a new beginning here in England!” This mama’s strength and love just blew me away and looking at these photos of Dane playing with his dad’s vintage cars has such special meaning after knowing the history behind this family.

I loved how Jennifer described Dane as “all boy.” It is so true as he had a blast discovering all sorts of bugs and interesting things during our session. Jennifer’s teaching background came through as she provided all sorts of fun facts and insights about the treasures her little sidekick found. The bond between these two is unmistakable and such a gift to witness.

With some gentle help and encouragement from mom, Dane conquered his fear and climbed up this tree. I love his triumphant celebration pose! Such a great personality in this little guy.

Apparently, this is Dane’s signature move: the claw.

I also love this quote from Jennifer about her relationship with her son: “Dane and I love traveling, adventure, weekends, the beach, learning and spending time on the road or at home — no matter, just together!”

Being new to England, Jennifer really wanted to capture the poppy and linseed fields as they are such iconic symbols for British living. Thankfully, as she mentioned, she and Dane love adventure as we had to wade through grass that was over our heads to get these shots!

We had planned to switch gears and do the linseed fields after the poppy shots. Little did we realize, linseed flowers close at night so there was some schedule shifting in order to get exactly the look we were going for.

Jennifer and Dane, thank you so much for sharing your story and your incredible bond with me. Your love just shines through in these photographs and the strength in your words is inspiring. Welcome to England; I know you two are already making unforgettable memories here in your new home!
